A Ravenna man led Solon Police on a chase through three towns, but was later arrested after he crashed his car.

Solon Police officers arrested a Ravenna man today after he led them on a chase through Bainbridge Aurora and Streetsboro.

The chase ended when the suspect crashed his car --Β  police believe it was stolen -- and then took off on foot. Solon and Aurora police eventually ran him down, according to Solon Police.

Arrested and charged was Jason Allen Dwinell, 24, of Ravenna. He is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, felony receiving stolen property auto, driving under suspension. Dwinell also has an active larceny warrant from Massachusetts.

About about 1:41 p.m., a Solon cop tried to pull over Dwinell, who was driving a white Honda two-door, because the car had a faulty muffler.

The driver refused to stop, and officers pursued.

The chase went into Bainbridge township, as the car headed south on Route 306 and then onto Route 42 into Aurora.

The driver twice avoided tire-deflation devices laid in wait by the Aurora Police.

The driver lost control of the car at about 10209 State Route 43 in Streetsboro, and the car went off the side of the road, smashed into a dirt berm. The car was severely damaged.

Police say the driver took off on foot, but he was run down by police a short distance away.

The entire chase lasted 11 minutes. No other cars were involved and no one was injured.

A Solon Police cruiser suffered minor damage when it had to go off-road during the chase.

Police believe the car was stolen from Ahuja Medical Center in Highland Hills and belonged to a resident of Windham, Ohio.

The case remains under investigation.
