Officers in Deadly March Shooting Honored For Heroics

Officers Nick Kine and Steven Davis received awards for their actions on March 17.

Two police officers were honored Monday for their actions during a deadly shootout in March.

Patrol officers Kline and Davis were forced to shoot Kevin M. Bailey after he got out of his car and opened fire on the officers. Bailey was shot and killed, but not before Davis was shot in the chest, saved by his protective vest.

Kline was awarded the Medal of Valor.

Davis was given the Silver Star for bravery and heroism by the National Association of Chiefs of Police and the Medal of Honor, rarely given to members of the Solon Police Department.

The Ohio Attorney General conducted an investigation on the case and cleared both officers.
