Man Leaves Bloody Trail From Solon Accident Scene

The information in this report is from the Solon Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 31-year-old man left a bloody trail from a Solon car crash scene to his apartment building in Oakwood Village, where believe he leapt from the fourth floor and then removed his blood-stained clothing.

The man, Clinton Gurley, was taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately for him, Gurley was charged by Solon police with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, drug abuse and failure to control, according to a police report.

At about 2:25 a.m. on Sept. 2, Solon police responded to the corner of Richmond and Aurora roads after a car smashed into the guard rail.

The driver was not at the scene, but a passerby stopped and told officers he had given a ride to a black man with a bloody head. He dropped him at the Solon Club Apartments, located at the corner of Solon Road and Richmond Road in Oakwood.

That was the same apartment where the owner of the car lived. In the lobby, officers found blood on the floor and a bloody shirt.

While officers were at the apartment building, someone called the Oakwood Police to tell them a man was on the ground half naked behind the apartments.

Officers hurried over to find Gurley lying in mulch wearing only boxer shorts. His clothing was laying in a bloody pile near him.

Officers believe Gurley leapt or fell from the fourth floor because he never came back down through the lobby.

Police found cocaine in the discarded pants, according to the report.

Gurley was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment.
