A Chagrin Falls man described as a 'minor shareholder' of a Solon company tried to push his way into the business and threatened the employees with guns when they didn't let him in, according to a report.
Arrested and charged with assault was Nathaniel Hawthorne, 68, of Chagrin Falls.
Hawthorne entered Epic Communications, located on Solon Road, at about 1:30 p.m. April 23 and told the workers he was a part owner of the company and had come to check on things.
One of the employees blocked his way and pushed him back, saying that the owner was not in. According to police, Hawthorne pushed a female employee into the table.
Another employee prepared to call 911 when Hawthorne said not to, according to the report. They asked him to leave again, and Hawthorne opened his jacket and showed them a handgun he was carrying.
He eventually left, and employees called the police.
Hawthorne was apprehended in his jeep, and police confiscated two handguns. He was arrested.
Police say that Hawthorne is only a minor shareholder in the business and has no authority over the employees and no right to be on premises.
