Man Bangs His Head On Glass Door For 30 Minutes: Best of the Blotter

Here are some of the weirdest police reports and incidents from departments across the region.

Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Strange times in Strongsville — Police arrested a man about 6 a.m. Oct. 2 after he was seen banging his head on glass and repeatedly throwing up.

According to a Whitney Road resident, the man had been trying to get a key in a door for about about 30 minutes. The head banging appeared to be out of frustration.

Police found drugs and paraphernalia on the man and arrested him on the scene.

The following morning, employees at the Holiday Inn asked police to check on a man who asked a clerk to call a limo to take him to Florida. The man claimed he had $55,000 in his suitcase.

The man told officers he was spending the night at the hotel and needed a flight to Florida. Police were called back to the hotel at 7:30 p.m. because the same man refused to pay a $100 lounge bill. Workers asked the man to leave the hotel.

Raccoon's fault — A Hiram woman tried blaming her alleged drunken driving on a raccoon Oct. 6, but Solon Police would not buy that excuse.

A caller observed 24-year-old Mikaela Johnson driving along the grassy median of U.S. 422 at 1:30 a.m. Her car had flat tires, driver's-side damage and a missing rearview mirror.

Johnson told officers that her car was damaged after hitting a raccoon, but officers were unable to locate the animal. She registered a .148 blood-alcohol level. She was arrested and charged with drunken driving.

That's all? — A burglar in Cuyahoga Falls probably had more in mind than forks, spoons and toilet paper before entering a vacant home on Northhampton Road.

A property owner called Cuyahoga Falls Police on Oct. 8 to report the burglary. The bandit left with just $300 in silverware and an unspecified amount of toilet paper. There are no suspects in the incident.

Hotel confrontation — A worker at Staybridge Hotel in Stow called police on Oct. 6 about a man making threats over an unavailable room.

The employee said the man became loud and threatening after learning that the room he had booked was no longer available.

At one point, the man acted as if he was going to jump over the counter.

An officer arrived, gave the man a trespassing warning and escorted him out of the hotel.
