"Students are taught skills such as how to crawl low under smoke and the importance of home fire exit plans," said Paramedic Lt. Mike Sager, who is the department's public education officer. "Each home exit plan should include calling the fire department from a neighbor’s house and having a family meeting place."

The program is made possible by donations of aluminum cans to the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) program run by Northern Ohio Firefighters and ACBC. Donations from the collection of aluminum cans are used for programs like this and Camp Phoenix, a special camp for children with burn injuries.
