Intoxicated Man Arrested After Crashing Car, Fighting Cops

A Solon man ran a red light on April 24 and crashed into another car, sending the other driver to the hospital, according to .

Arrested and charged was Michael J. Abbene, 41, of Solon. He was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, drunken driving, driving under suspension and carrying a concealed weapon.

The owner of the car, Jennifer Amans, 33, of Solon, was also charged with wrongful entrustment and obstructing official business. She was the passenger in the car at the time of the accident, according to Solon Police.

The police report says that at about 10:36 p.m. on April 24, Abbene ran a red light at Solon and Richmond roads and smashed into another car, being driven by a 48-year-old Sagamore Hills woman. The woman was injured and taken by ambulance to Bedford Hospital.

Police found numerous empty beer cans inside the car Abbene was driving and he showed signs of intoxication, according to the report.

He was told to wait by the car, but police say that Abbene became aggressive and demanded to talk with Amans. The report says he began pacing back and forth and became irrate.

Police made to handcuff him, but he began throwing his arms and elbows at them. He was taken to the ground by officers and handcuffed, the report reads.

In jail, police say Abbene continued to threaten the officers, telling them "I'll see you around" and "This is a small town."

When asked what he meant, the report says Abbene simply stared at the officers.
