House Fire on Copley Avenue Extinguished; No One Hurt

Solon firefighters extinguished a house fire that began in a home's basement on Monday.

A Copley Avenue home caught fire in the basement on Monday, but were able to extinguish the blaze and no one was hurt.

Chief William Shaw said occupants of the home at 6545 Copley Avenue weren't inside when firefighters arrived to handle the fire at about 6 p.m. Monday. Twelve firefighters from the city's three stations responded. officers closed the road, which re-opened at about 8 p.m.

Damage to the home is not apparent from the outside and front of the house except for a sheet of plywood covering what appears to be a basement access.
