House Burns Down on Ledgebrook Lane

No one was hurt in the blaze, but the $600,000 home is a total loss

A home in Solon's Sherbrook Park subdivision burned down Monday night.

The home, located at 5800 Ledgebrook Lane, was still smoldering at about 5 p.m. today. Crews were on the scene tearing the remaining structure down and hosing off the ruins.

Fire Chief Bill Shaw said that no one was harmed in the fire because the homeowners, Sheike and Samantha Shabazz and their three kids, were not home.

Shaw said the $600,000 home is a total loss. It's being torn down for safety reasons.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Shaw said.

A neighbor who called 911 said the she noticed flames coming from the bottom of the house at about midnight.Β 

At first, Denise Pardee said she thought a bonfire had been lit near the house, but then realized the flames were coming from a window.

Pardee said she was outside taking her dog out this morning at about 7 a.m. and noticed the blaze had restarted. She said she called the fire department again.
