A Solon man has been charged with multiple felonies for his role in an officer-involved shooting on July 9 in Eastlake, according to police.

Renat A. Akberdin, 48, of North Roundhead Drive, has been charged with felony destruction of evidence and resisting arrest, aggravated menacing and using weapons while intoxicated.

Akberdin was reported missing July 8. When Eastlake police conducted a welfare check at his East 357th Street business, he was found inside armed with a handgun, according to a July 10 press release.

The news release stated a man, later identified as Akberdin, came out of his business, raised his weapon at an officer who fired at Akberdin, hitting his hand.

The officer's actions were reviewed and deemed justified, according to Eastlake police, and is back on duty.

Akberdin was released on bond and will appear in Willoughby Municipal Court on Aug. 6 at 7:45 a.m.
