Man Accused of Driving Drunk on Smoking Flat Tire

Information provided by the Solon Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Oct. 23 around midnight, officers spotted a man driving slowly down SOM Center Road and make a turn onto Solon road with a smoking tire, according to Solon police.

Once he was pulled over, the officer noticed the man's passenger side tire was flat and that he had been driving on the rim, which is what was causing the smoke, police said.

Police arrested James P. Blank, 62, of Chagrin Falls, and charged him with driving while intoxicated. He was also given a misdemenor charge for driving with an open containter and a citation for an unsafe vehicle, police said.
