Cleveland Man Charged After Hitting Officer, Dislocating His Finger
The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.
A Solon police officer suffered a dislocated finger after a man struck him during an arrest on June 7.
Julio Santiago-Denis, 23, of Cleveland, was charged with assaulting an officer, a fourth-degree felony.
Around 11:20 p.m. the officer spotted Santiago-Denis near Cochran and Solon Road kicking a street sign and jumping in the air.
While writing a warning the officer asked if he had anything illegal on him. Santiago-Denis said, "Yeah, um," putting one of his hands in a sweatshirt pocket.
He wouldn't remove his hand from the pocket and when the officer grabbed his wrist Santiago-Denis struggled, eventually striking the officer in the face, according to police.
During the fight the officer dislocated his finger.
A second officer arrived on the scene helping to subdue and arrest the man.
