Black Bear Spotted in Solon Subdivision

Solon Police say residents should call Ohio Department of Natural Resources if they see the bear

A resident in a subdivision in Solon has reported seeing a black bear today.

The bear was reportedly spotted in the Chagrin Highlands Subdivision, which is north of Route 422 and east of Liberty Road.

Solon Police say residents should leave the animal alone and not attempt to "approach it, feed it, or scare it off" unless the bear presents an imminent threat.

Residents should contact the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at 330-644-2293 if they see the bear. The state will ask for a location so they can track the bear's movements.
