The band director noticed that several instruments had gone missing from inventory since Sept. 20, according to police. The director kept track of the missing serial numbers and noticed a 10-year-old boy playing on one of the stolen instruments.
After questioning, the boy admitted to stealing a clarinet, trumpet, flute and a teacher's iPhone, totaling $1,600, police said. All the items were found in his home.
The boy was referred to the school's juvenile officer and his case was turned over to juvenile court, according to police.
