State Rep. Anielski Announces Grant for Lupus Foundation in Brecksville

State Representative Marlene Anielski is pleased to announce that the Ohio Commission on Minority Health has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Lupus Foundation of America’s office in Brecksville.

“I am delighted that a successful nonprofit voluntary organization like the Lupus Foundation of America has been selected for this grant. This branch works diligently on advocacy and is devoted to bringing awareness to the community,” said Rep. Anielski.  

The Commission on Minority Health focuses on issues such as infant mortality, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, substance abuse, lupus and violence specifically within Ohio’s minority populations. Grants are provided for projects that address one or more of the six diseases and conditions, or risk factors, responsible for excess, premature deaths within the community.  The goal of this grant program is to promote culturally appropriate projects into the health care delivery system.

Specifically for lupus, the grant program supports programs for patient, public and professional education, which are funded up to $28,000 for a two-year period. Additionally, lupus grants can be used to encourage and develop local centers on lupus information gathering and screening, and to provide outreach to women of color.
