Solon Library Blog: Digital Bookmobile Visits Library Next Week

The Digital Bookmobile visits the Solon Library Monday, August 1 from 1p.m. - 7p.m.

The Digital Bookmobile National Tour will make a stop at Cuyahoga County Public Library’s (located at 34125 Portz Parkway, Solon 44139) on Monday, Aug. 1 from 1 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

At this free event, readers of all ages can explore Cuyahoga County Public Library’s digital media catalog and sample eBooks, audiobooks and music. They can also try out the Digital Bookmobile’s gadget gallery which features an iPod touch®,  Android™ tablet, NOOK™, Sony® Reader™, BlackBerry®, Windows® Phone, and other devices that are compatible with the Library’s free download service. Staff will be available at the event to assist customers.

The Digital Bookmobile – owned and operated by OverDrive, Inc. – is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades. This 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high-definition monitors, premium sound systems and a variety of portable media players, all of which help visitors explore Cuyahoga County Public Library’s digital media catalog.

Interactive learning stations give visitors an opportunity to search and sample the Library’s collection of digital materials and use supported mobile devices.

Cuyahoga County Public Library cardholders can check out and download digital materials any time, anywhere from the Library’s website. Once downloaded, they can be enjoyed on a computer or transferred to a variety of supported mobile devices. Many audio titles can also be burned to audio CD. At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. There are never late fees or damaged items.
