America Recycles Day - Solon Community Center

Bring your children take part in America Recycles Day.  From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., The Solon Service Department and The Solon Civic Club will have information on the importance of recycling, how to get started, and families can sign a Recycling Pledge.  There will be activities, games and contests for kids grades K-8.  America Recycles Day is a national program of Keep America Beautiful, and is the only nationally recognized community-driven awareness event dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S.  Since its inception in 1997, communities across the country have participated in America Recycles Day to educate, promote environmental citizenship, and encourage action.

Kathy Rocco from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District will speak about recycling in her ‘sort out recycling’ talk at 4:00 p.m.   Interested is seeing a recycling plant?  There will be a tour of The Kimble Recycling Facility in Twinsburg at 12:30 p.m.  Contact Cheryl at the Solon Community Center (440) 337-1532 prior to that day to reserve your spot on the tour. You must provide your own transportation to 8500 Chamberlain Road, Twinsburg.

The Civic Club will be collecting used shoes of any kind as well as beverage tabs. Soles4Souls recycles and distributes the shoes in the U.S. and abroad and the beverage tabs are donated to Ronald McDonald House charity.   For more information, go to www.americarecyclesday.org.
