The National Weather Service forecasts that another 3 to 5 inches may fall today in Solon and winds will remain high late into the afternoon.

Wind speeds are expected to reach 17 to 26 mph.

The snow and high winds are expected to clear away by this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of northern Ohio, including Solon.

The warning will be in effect from 9 p.m. tonight through 4 p.m Friday.

According to the weather service, a strong low pressure system will move from Cincinnati toward Youngstown tonight, with rain, sleet and eventually snow and heavy winds. The heaviest accumulation is expected between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday.Β 

In Solon, the weather service expects three to seven inches of snow by Friday afternoon. It's also expected to be blustery by Friday morning, with wind speeds as high as 39 mph.

By Friday afternoon, many areas could see snow accumulation of six to 12 inches. Winds are expected to pick up Friday, with gusts expected up to 35 mph.
