Hop To These Local Easter Egg Hunts This Weekend

The Solon Italian Club will hold a massive hunt in Solon; Good events in Twinsburg too.

IF you've got little ones, may we suggest you hop over this weekend to some of the great Easter-themed events planned in Solon and Twinsburg?

Solon Italian Club Easter Egg Hunt

Can you say 12,000 eggs filled with candy?

The 28th Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Solon, sponsored by the Solon Italian Club, is scheduled for Saturday at noon at the varsity football field at . The club expects more than 1,000 children to attend.

Those coming to the egg hunt are encouraged to bring canned goods as donations to a local charity. The Italian Club is also accepting donations to send to U.S. service members stationed overseas.

Acceptable items include: toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, deodorant, dental floss, cotton balls, disposable hand and feet warmers, toilet paper, razors, hair gel, shampoo, soap, chap stick, wet wipes, foil packets of chicken, dried fruit, energy bars, snack cakes, hot chocolate, candy, beef jerky, playing cards, batteries, puzzle books, and blank greeting cards (to send notes back home).

"We love hosting the Easter Egg Hunt for the community and we realize that hundreds of local families enjoy participating," said Italian Club President Bob Yodice. "But we are also acutely aware of the sacrifices made by the men and women in our armed forces and we want everyone here to realize that we can make a difference while still enjoying a great event in Solon."

The Solon Italian Club is working in cooperation with AdoptAPlatoon, a volunteer organization that has been sending ‘care packages’ overseas to U.S. Troops for 14 years. Local Platoon Mom, Suzi Castiglione will coordinate the distribution of the packages to the armed forces.

Candy Scramble (Twinsburg)

The Easter Bunny will greet children and be available for pictures at the 21st Annual Candy Scramble. Get your children a big basket and make your way over to the Twinsburg Fitness Center. Please have your children lined up 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled time. Ages 2-4 start at 11:30 a.m. and ages 5-8 start at 11:45 a.m.

Wet Egg Hunt (Twinsburg)

This free event starts noon in the fitness center pool children from 9-12 years old will have to put on their swim suits to gather their Easter eggs. This event will involve children collecting plastic eggs that are scattered throughout the pool. Make sure your hunters are ready to go by 11:50 a.m. Eggs will be in the shallow and deep water so that all swimming abilities are accomodated. Parents please stay out of the water.
