Rep. David Joyce Talks Economy, Politics at 3Chamber Event

Rep. David Joyce was the keynote speaker at the 3Chamber Luncheon in Aurora on Wednesday.

A crowd of more than 200 business owners, elected officials and residents filled the Bertram Inn in Aurora to listen to Rep. David Joyce, the keynote speaker at the 3Chamber Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Joyce, 56, representing Ohio's 14th Congressional District, spoke about his first year in office and the financial challenges facing Ohio and the United States.

We are in a global economy and we need to operate as such," Joyce said, refferring to America's growing debt problem. "We're not going to tax or spend our way out of this deficit. It's about growing the economy."

He also touched on the political gridlock that he's seen in Washington during his short time in Congress. He believes high-profile politicians need to spend less time in front of a camera and more time getting things done.

We need to take off our red and blue jerseys and everyone put on their red, white and blue jerseys," he said to a roaring applause.

Jennifer Natale, president of the Solon Chamber of Commerce , thought that Joyce's discussion, as well as the event, was a success.

"I absolutely these 3Chamber events we have," Natale said. "Having Congressman Joyce speak to us and update us the happenings in Washington is fantastic."

The 3Chamber Luncheon was made up of chambers from Twinsburg, Solon and Aurora.
