A majority affirmative vote throughout the City and in Ward 5 is necessary for passage
Shall the Ordinance providing for the rezoning of certain property in the City of Solon from the R-1-D (Single Family 1 Acre) to the I-2 (Industrial Manufacturing), to permit its use for a research and development facility operated by Nestle and to allow for future expansion of Nestle's current uses on its adjacent property be approved?

Ward Vote Important: Based on the city charter, the rezoning must recieve a majority of the vote both in the entire city and in Ward 5, where the land is located.

History: , Solon's largest employer, is seeking to build a new research and development facility on land it owns in Solon. That land is zoned residential and must be zoned industrial before the company can build. The company collected signatures from residents to get the rezoning on the ballot.

Argument For:Β  The facility will expand Nestle's footprint in Solon and add between 40 to 60 new jobs. .

Argument Against: Opponents say that rezoning residential land for industrial use sets a bad precedent in the city. A group called opposes the rezoning.
