Based on the highest overall scores Solon and choirs from Medina, Loveland, Ohio, Nitro, WV, Hurricane, WV, and Albertville, Ala. were selected to move on to the evening finals.

Shortly into finals, a minor accident involving a fire extinguisher occured back stage, requiring the building to be evacuated and the fire department was called. The conditions in the auditorum were considered to be unsafe for the competition to continue, and was cancelled. Upon discussion amongst the Twinsburg competition staff, judges and show choir directors, it was decided to base the final awards on the daytime overall scoring.
