7th Annual Band Bash Hits Stewart Field This Weekend

Proceeds from the event, sponsored by the Solon Music Parents, go to support the high school's instrumental music program.

The football field will be jumping this weekend but it won't be because of the football team.

Solon High School's seventh-annual Band Bash is Saturday, Sept. 7 at Stewart Field. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. 

Tickets are $6 can be bought in advance at Mitchell's Ice Cream for $5.

This year Solon's marching Comets will be stepping out in brand-new uniforms, and three participating bands will be led by new directors.

This will be the first new look for Solon's band in more than 20 years. The recently retired uniforms are being recycled into commemorative pillows as a fund raiser for Solon's instrumental music programs.

The pillows, which will be available in three styles, can be ordered by visiting 
www.solonmusicparents.org or purchased at Solon home football games. Cost will be $40 to $50.  

This year's Band Bash will feature more than 1,100 students from 10 marching bands.

High school bands from Bedford, Berkshire, Chardon, Hudson, James A. Garfield, Maple Heights, Solon, Streetsboro, Twinsburg and Windham will perform, with Berkshire, Twinsburg and Maple Heights under new leadership.

Musical selections range from The HorseAll-American Nightmare and Star 
Wars to Enya ReturnsThe Best of Kenny G and Superstition.
