Solon Named a Tree City for 30th Year

The Arbor Day Foundation named Solon a Tree City USA for the 30th year in a row

For the last 30 years, Solon has been named a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation, and this year is no different.

Solon was named for its commitment to urban forestry and met four standards to become a Tree City, including having a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.Β

"We commend Solon's elected officials, volunteers and its citizens for providing vital care for its urban forest," said John Rosenow, chief executive and founder of the Arbor Day Foundation, in a release. "Trees provide numerous environmental, economical and health benefits to millions of people each day, and we applaud communities that make planting and care for trees a top priority."
