Grab and Go: Summer Reading Begins and More

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Monday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you.

1. 

Where/When: , Thursday, June 9 from 7-9 p.m.

Why Go: Kick off your summer right – with this special reading event. You can come by the library and get signed up for the  summer reading program. Have fun with Flower Clown, music by local rock bands, food,crafts, games, prizes, and register for our summer reading game!

2. 

Where/When: , Friday, June 10 from 2-3 p.m.

Why Go: This scavenger hunt is best for kids in grades 4-6. There will be teams of 3, each team will complete the questionnaire. The team with the most correct answers wins gift certificates for Dairy Queen. Registration is required.

3. 

Where/When: , Friday, June 10 from 5-8 p.m.

Why Go: DJ at the Pool means that you get to enjoy the music from a live DJ while you swim!

4. 

Where/When: Twinsburg Public Library, Sunday, June 12, from 2-3 p.m.

Why go: Come to the Library at the Reading Garden for this season's first summer music event. This is the first in a series of great summer music.  Groove – a cappella singers from the University of Akron – will perform. Come and enjoy some ice cream as well.
