Google Names Solon as Ohio's eCapitol for 2013

The search-engine giant recognized Solon's progress as a digital community.

Columbus may be the state capitol of Ohio, but this year Solon is the hub of internet commerce in the Buckeye state.

Solon was named Ohio's digital capitol in the 2013 Google eCity Awards. Every year the online search giant recognizes the strongest online business community in each state , according to its website.

"Science Olympiad-winning students have made Solon a tech star, and the Cleveland suburb also leads Ohio’s digital way," according to Google. "Its online business community connects local shops and restaurants with residents and visitors."

More information on how the winner is chosen can be found in a frequently-asked questions page on the website.

Peggy Weil Dorfman, the city's economic development director, told the Solon Sun Star “it’s always great to be recognized and that our business community has been singled out.”
