Community members and cancer survivors kicked off the 2012 Relay for Life Friday at Stadium. Relay for Life is an American Cancer Society event where people camp out at the stadium overnight to raise money to find a cure for the disease.
It featured entertainment, games, snacks and 25 teams whose members took turns walking around the track to support the fight against cancer. Solon Relay for Life co-chair Shari Singer said teams had raised $33,000 leading up to the event, and hoped to increase that amount substantially by Saturday morning, when the final lap takes place.
