University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center opens expanded Outpatient Rehabilitation Center in Warrensville Heights

Site features new equipment and complete physical/occupational/speech therapy capabilities

Bedford, Ohio – On March 3, University Hospitals (UH) Bedford Medical Center, a campus of UH Regional Hospitals, opened a new dedicated Outpatient Rehabilitation Center in Warrensville Heights. The state-of-the-art facility, located off Interstate-271 at 4480 Richmond Road, features a 5,000-square-foot space for patient care and a $45,000 investment in therapy equipment.

The center is now the primary site for UH Bedford Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, encompassing physical, occupational and speech therapies. To maximize convenience for patients, certain physical therapy services will still be available at the Bedford campus located on Blaine Avenue in Bedford.

“The new space is much larger than the hospital’s rehab facility,” says Brian Adams, MOT, OTR/L, Manager of Rehabilitation Services, UH Bedford Medical Center. “Parking is very convenient because you are just a few feet from the entrance.” The Warrensville Heights facility also features a great deal of natural light for patients to enjoy during their therapy sessions.

The Outpatient Rehabilitation Center’s Warrensville Heights location enables UH Bedford Medical Center to attract more physical/occupational/speech therapy patients from communities beyond the hospital’s primary service area of Bedford, Bedford Heights and Maple Heights.

“Our focus at the new center is on patients recovering from neurological conditions and injuries like stroke, traumatic brain injury, Post-Concussion Syndrome, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS),” says Adams. The program will continue to offer full-service therapies to patients with cardiac and orthopaedic issues, including those recovering from joint replacement surgery.

In addition, patients can look forward to these amenities at the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center:

*Expanded capacity for large-movement therapeutic activities

*Private treatment areas

*Easy access from the highway and other major roads

*A five-minute drive from UH Bedford Medical Center

With this expansion of services, the UH Bedford Medical Center rehabilitation staff will gradually increase in size. “We already have a new, full-time speech therapist who is familiar with many of our patients,” says Adams. “We’re also planning to add an additional physical therapist at the hospital’s facility.”

Rehabilitation services for UH Bedford Medical Center inpatients will not be impacted by the outpatient services relocation. “This exciting transition allows us to continue providing the highest-quality outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy,” says Robert G. David, President, UH Bedford Medical Center. “We are offering the same friendly faces and the same extraordinary care in a fresh, improved environment.” The hospital’s Aquatic Therapy services will continue to be offered at the Bedford Heights Community Center, 5615 Perkins Road.
