This past weekend, Solon High School's award winning show choir, Music in Motion, competed in the Northcoast Show Choir Invitational in Twinsburg, Ohio. The competition included 20 show choirs from Ohio, Virginia, Illinois and West Virginia.
During the daytime preliminary awards, Solon was named Class A Grand Champion, and also won caption awards for Best Band and Best Show Concept. Best Male and Female Soloist awards went to Music in Motion members, Brett Castro and Dani Apple. Also, Daniel Henderson, was named Best Individual Performer for Solon.
The six finalists for the competition included Solon, Cosby High School from Midlothian, Virginia, Loveland High School from Loveland, Ohio, Marysville High School from Marysville, Ohio, Mt. Zion High School from Mt. Zion, Illinois, and Piqua High School from Piqua, Ohio. At the end of the evening, Music In Motion was named Grand Champions and also won the Best Vocals award.
The Northcoast Show Choir Invitational is Solon's last competition for its 2013 season. Solon competed in a total of 5 competitions this year and came away with 3 grand championships. In its last 2 seasons, Music in Motion has participated in 10 competitions. During that time, they won 8 grand champion awards and are undefeated in the categories of Best Vocals and Best Band.
This Saturday, March 2, Music In Motion will be hosting its own show choir competition at Solon High School. 14 show choirs will be participating in this year's event. Daytime performances are from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with the top 6 choirs performing again in the evening, starting at 7:30 pm. Solon will also provide an exhibition performance at 10:30 pm.
