FIND OUT: The Solon Cash Mob Is Headed To...
Click the headline to find out what business will benefit from Solon's first Cash Mob event.
The first Solon Cash Mob is heading to Solon Hardware at 5 p.m.
The store is located at 6310 Melbury Avenue, near the intersection with Station Street.
The mob is meeting at 5 p.m. at nearby Solon Square Shopping Center. Then the crowd will make its way to Solon Hardware.
After, the mob is heading to Solon Paninis for food and drinks. Everyone is welcome!
It's easy to participate: Just bring $20 to purchase items from the hardware store. And tell your friends to come along too.
A cash mob is an event to encourage people to shop local businesses by having a crowd descend on a specific business and have each person spend at least $20. They are usually organized through social media and, of course, good old fashioned word of mouth.
Solon's cash mob was devised by the Solon Chamber of Commerce's social media and connections committee. Read a letter from Chamber Chairman Jim Kelvington about why they are organizing the Cash Mob.

I think that going to Solon Hardware was a great choice. Locally owned businesses need all the help they can get. However, the choice to go to Panini's to celebrate afterwards was one that I don't agree with. They are a chain. I thought that cash mobs were all about helping out the little guy. There are plenty of locally owned and hurting eateries in the Solon area that you could have chosen.

Hi, I am a former Solon resident and heard about it from a current resident. I have called the mayor of our town to see if it could be done here. (I am in Person County, NC). I love this whole concept, and I hope it continues to go well for you.
