Solon Pointe Ranks High in Nursing, Low in Health Inspections

Solon Pointe at Emerald Ridge rated highly for nurse staffing, but poorly for health inspections.

 

Overall, Solon Pointe at Emerald Ridge ranked at two stars out of five in US News' latest rating on nursing homes in the country, according to a report released by US News

The nursing homes are judged in four categories: health inspections, nurse staffing, quality measures and fire safety. 

Here's how the Solon-based nursing home ranked:

HEALTH INSPECTIONS: 1/5 stars

The report lists six deficiencies. Click here for details. Comparatively, the state average in this category is six and the average is seven in the country. 

NURSE STAFFING: 4/5 stars

The report lists how much time each resident gets with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse assistants and physical therapy staff. At Solon Pointe, the average time is more than the state and country averages in all but two categories. Click here for the full report

QUALITY MEASURES: 5/5 stars

US News measured percentages of residents who got recommended care, such as flu vaccinations, and percentages of residents who had pain, bedsores, urinary tract infections and other care-related problems. Click here for that full report

FIRE SAFETY: (Not rated by stars.)

This section measured how well the nursing home met National Fire Protection Agency standards in the most recent inspection. The Solon nursing home had two deficiencies. The state and country average is four. Click here for details.
