The latest in the high school rankings derby: The Washington Post's High School Challenge, which ranks schools on how effectively they prepare students for college.
How did Solon High School do?
According to the challenge rankings, Solon High is No. 357 in the country, No. 23 in the Midwest and No. 9 in Ohio.
In Ohio, the only Northeast Ohio school ranked higher than Solon was Chagrin Falls High School.
Solon High was also ranked recently by Cleveland Magazine's Rating the Suburbs feature, Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report.
The High School Challenge rankings are for 2010, and are based on how many AP, International Baccalaureate and other college-level tests are taken by graduating seniors. The formula is not intended to gauge the overall quality of schools, but the Post says the ratings "can reveal the level of a high school’s commitment to preparing average students for college."
