Solon trailed after the first quarter, but rallied to comfortably defeat Akron Buchtel 36-14.
The Solon Comets fell behind early, but didn't waste time righting the ship in a comfortable 36-14 win against Akron Buchtel Friday night.
The Comets climbed to 2-1 on the young season after a third straight home game at Stewart Field. The Comets defeated Shaker Heights in the opener, but fell to Glenville last week.
Buchtel led the Comets 14-7 after the first quarter, but Solon went to business in the second quarter, ripping off 17 points to take a 24-14 lead that the Comets never relinquished.
Beginning the scoring frenzy in the second quarter was Darian Hicks, who had his first electrifying special teams play of the year with a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Running back Khoury Crenshaw added three touchdowns on the ground and kicker Keon Himerlein added two field goals. The Solon defense also recorded a safety in the second quarter.
Next week the Comets hit the road to take on North Royalton.
