Roadside Memorial For Solon Man Stolen

The family of Jason Kasmer say that someone has stolen the roadside memorial dedicated to Jason after he died in car crash in 2011 on U.S. 422.

The family of Jason Kasmer, a Solon man who died in a car crash on U.S. 422 in 2011, is upset that someone has taken the roadside memorial dedicated to their loved one.

Jamie Kasmer, Jason's sister, told Solon Patch that her father last saw the memorial on Monday. On Tuesday it was gone.

The memorial was set up where Jason Kasmer died in November 2011, along U.S. 422 West between Harper and SOM Center roads. The memorial included a steel cross with Jason's name on it that was posted into the ground and a wooden cross next to it.

Jamie Kasmer said that both crosses are missing. She said the post that was holding up the steel cross is still in the ground.

"After everything we went through with Jason passing, why would someone do that?" Jamie Kasmer said.

Β The family called Solon Police and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Both said they did not remove it.

Jamie Kasmer said she hopes the person who took the memorial comes forward. She said the family just wants the memorial returned to where it belongs.
