President Barack Obama's visit to Mentor High School began with a "Go Cardinals" and ended with a request for the audience to hit the polls on election day.

"Turn out on Tuesday for me," Obama said to a gymnasium full of supporters.

According to Mentor Deputy Fire Chief Robert Searles, 4,010 people attended the President's rally. They packed lines around the school's gymnasium entrance well into the 11 a.m. hour.

Obama took the stage shortly after noon and spoke for about 29 minutes. Familiarity was a prevailing theme in his speech.

"After four years as president, you know me," he said. "You know what I believe.

"You know I will fight for you."

For examples, he cited ending the war in Iraq, the auto industry bailout and his recent declaration that responding to Hurricane Sandy is his "number one priority."

In admitting that his track record hasn't been perfect, Obama told the crowd, "We've got more work to do, Ohio."

That message resonated with Peggy Senskey of Ashtabula.

"It was exhilarating with a lot of promise," Senskey said. "Because he has hope, I have hope. That's what I got out of it."

Though Obama sternly told the crowd to stop booing his mention of opponent Mitt Romney, the president later referred to the Massachusetts governor as a "talented salesman" who cannot relate to many of their struggles. On that front, Obama promised more jobs for veterans and easier access to college funding.

"He just confirmed that he's for the people, that he knows how to get us going and keep us on track," Painesville resident Kelly Scott said.

Scott attended the rally with her husband, Benjamin, and her mother, Frances Johnson. Scott said she particularly enjoyed Obama's pledge to lessen the difficulty of obtaining school loans.

"I've got two young boys who I want to go to college, and they sure can't borrow (money) from me," Scott said.

The one similarity Obama said he shares with Romney is belonging to a wealthier tax bracket than most Americans. He said his plan would provide tax breaks for the middle class instead of people like himself.

"Folks like me and Gov. Romney … I promise you, we can afford it."

Sue Stromberg of Mentor said that statement exemplified why she supports Obama.

"I enjoyed his idea that we're all in this together," Stromberg said. "Everybody deserves their chance.

"We'll all work together."

For those who insist that "Obama hasn't done ANYTHING!", well... (Part I)

1. The first bill President Obama signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, to help women fight back when they don't get equal pay for equal work.

2. His Recovery Act supported millions of jobs and helped to stave off a second Great Depression.

3. He pushed for and won middle-class tax cuts that benefitted every American worker, and saved the typical family $3,600 in taxes over the last four years.

4. President Obama rescued the auto industry, and now GM and Chrysler are healthier than they've ever been. The American auto industry has added nearly a quarter of a million jobs since June 2009 -- and they most likely wouldn't exist right now without President Obama's leadership.

5. He doubled funding for Pell Grants, helping to make college more affordable for nearly 10 million families.

6. His student loan reform ended billions in subsidies to banks serving as middlemen and reinvested those savings directly into students.

7. The President established the American Opportunity Tax Credit, worth up to $10,000 over four years of college.

8. His Race to the Top Initiative helped spur nearly every state to raise academic standards.

9. His tax cuts, social-welfare programs, and economic policies lifted nearly 7 million Americans above the federal poverty line in 2010.

10. President Obama has signed 18 tax cuts for small businesses since taking office.

(Part II)
11. We've seen 5.2 million new private-sector jobs over the last 31 months.

12. Unemployment is at the lowest level since Obama took office.

13. Health care reform -- passed after decades of failed attempts by every previous President -- provides affordable health coverage to every American & will lower premiums by an average of $2,000 per family by 2019.

14. Obamacare expanded access to preventive care such as cancer screenings & immunizations with no out-of-pocket costs for 54 million Americans.

15. Obamacare ends insurance discrimination against the 129 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.

16. Because of Obamacare, over 3 million more young adults have health insurance today.

17. The parents of over 17 million children with pre-existing conditions no longer have to worry that their children will be denied coverage.

18. President Obama has ordered the overhaul of federal government regulations to make them smarter, practical, & more efficient. Just a fraction of these commonsense initiatives will help save businesses $10 billion in the next five years alone.

19. His historic investments in clean energy have helped more than double the amount of electricity we obtain from wind & solar sources & helped increase biofuel production to its highest level in history.

20. Obama is doubling fuel efficiency standards, which will save drivers more than $8,000 at the gas pump, not to mention lessen the impact of cars on our environment.

(Part III)
(Part III)
21. Obama has taken action to address climate change, reaching historic international agreements to curb carbon emissions, & taking action here at home to reduce carbon pollution from our vehicles & promote clean energy production.

22. He has taken action to protect our environment -- signing one of the largest expansions of protected wilderness in a generation & putting in place standards to reduce toxic air pollution that will save thousands of lives.

23. Obama fought for & won landmark Wall Street reform that reins in the abuses that led to the financial crisis & ends the era of taxpayer bailouts & "too big to fail."

24. Wall Street reform created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the nation's first federal agency focused solely on consumer financial protection -- and the Bureau is already protecting families from unfair & abusive financial practices from Wall Street.

25. As part of the President's commitment to transparency, the White House has posted its visitor records online for the first time ever.

26. Obama's all-of-the-above approach to energy has helped cut our dependence on foreign oil to its lowest level in 20 years.

27. He responsibly ended the war in Iraq.

28. He announced a plan to end the war in Afghanistan & transition security responsibility to them.

(Part IV)
29. Obama sent the largest security assistance package to Israel in history & funded the Iron Dome system, protecting Israeli homes & schools from rocket attacks.

30. He rallied the international community to implement the toughest sanctions on Iran in history.

31. Through the President's historic increases in Veterans Affairs funding, he has expanded & improved healthcare & job training access for our returning veterans.

32. President Obama negotiated the New START Treaty with Russia to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in both countries. At the same time, he also secured commitments from dozens of other countries to lock down nuclear materials.

33. His administration naturalized 11,146 military service members as U.S. citizens in 2010; more than in any year since 1955.

34. The President set a bold new plan for the future of NASA space exploration, using the skill & ability of the private sector for short trips to the International Space Station, while building a new vehicle for exploration of distant space, & doing everything in his power to support the economy on Florida's Space Coast.

35. President Obama recognizes that tourism is one of America's largest economic engines; he's worked to encourage international visitors to come here, maintaining our security while keeping millions of Americans in good, paying jobs.

(Part V)
36. He has affirmed his personal support of marriage equality, directed the Justice Department to stop defending DOMA in federal courts, & took the practical & compassionate step of extending hospital visitation rights to same-sex partners.

37. He fought for & won the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, allowing gay & lesbian members of the military to serve openly for the first time in history.

38. When Congress failed to fix our broken immigration system, his administration did everything in its power to improve it, streamlining the process & announcing a policy that lifts the shadow of deportation from hard working young immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

39. Oh, and he gave the order to send troops in after Osama Bin Laden -- and has decimated al-Qaeda's senior leadership.

My insurance premiums increased that much before Obamacare every year. Why is the CEO of Cleveland Clinic endorsing Obamacare? Romney introduced this concept in Massachusetts and as usual he reversed himself to pander to the uninformed fears of Obamacare. If you lose your job, you will be able to select health insurance from an assortment of private plans. Your premiums will be based on your income, so if you are under employed or unemployed you will be covered. If you don't have insurance through a job, you will be able to buy affordable health insurance. There is no such thing as "affordable" health insurance now for people who don't have insurance through employers. That's why it's called the "Affordable Care Act". This moves millions of people off of Medicaid and those funds are better spent supplementing insurance premiums and insurance companies manage expenses. This is a better use of your tax dollars.

This may be off topic , BUT I fell I have to respond . Ten years the republicans have fought against the prescription drug database . In ten years hundreds if not thousands have died over the misuse of these drugs . They were not all drug addicts , so this should not be dismissed as people just doing what they wanted with these drugs . The reps past a database last year . But it is full of holes . The drug dealers on the streets love it . The drug companies love it . The doctors love it . The reps refused to make it mandatory cause it would cut into BIG profits to those selling these drugs . Yes Libya is bad and should of never happened . But if you check, you will see these things happened on both sides of the table . This one is being made such a big issue because its election time. If you people really care about American lives , ask the republicans why they refused toi make the prescription drug database mandatory . Iam only saying republicans because they are the ones against it. If it was the dems , I would change parties over this issue . Obama has your back,, the republicans wil take your back . Please call your local rep and demand why they refuse to make the database mandatory , and then get out and vote FOR OBAMA THANK YOU

If they did their total count by the number of tickets they received, then their count is way off. Those of us that were shuffled into the cafeteria for overflow did not have anyone to turn those tickets into; I still have mine! There was anywhere between 500 to 1,000 people in the cafeteria alone!

I also want my children to attend college but don't expect the govt or another taxpayer to pay through borrowing from china, taxing the rich person or printing more money. If you want the luxury (it is not a NEED) of a college education it has to be worked for. Why do so many expect the govt to pay for that luxury?

If you wish for America to compete globally, then you better believe college education is a necessity and not luxury. As a nation we don't have the luxury of falling behind the rest of the world in the disciplines of math and science.

We have about a 68% passing rate in US high schools and that number grows smaller each year. You're talking about college? Government schools are designed to produce factory workers. That's it.

If parents don't care enough about their children to get involved, follow up with their studies, keep them off the street, off of drugs, off of each other so that they don't become teen parents, nothing will ever change.

Today's society is full of Adult aged children that accept NO responsibility for themselves and they breed more of the same blood sucker, welfare mentality year after year.

"Right To Healthcare"? Give me a break people. Too many Americans have their hands out for free stuff yet they aren’t willing to be productive.

College? Forget that. Survival skills and independent responsibility comes before anything else. Half of you people vote for government that promises to wipe your Rear End so you won't have to and you talk about global competition?

What A Joke! Grow up!

Here's a breath of fresh air AND a goodly dose of real.
"Gary Johnson's 7 Principles of Good Government

1) Become reality driven. Don't kid yourself or others. Find out what's what and base your decisions and actions on that.

2) Always be honest and tell the truth. It's extremely difficult to do any damage to anybody when you are willing to tell the truth—regardless of the consequences.

3) Always do what's right and fair. Remember, the more you actually accomplish, the louder your critics become. You've got to learn to ignore your critics. You've got to continue to do what you think is right. You've got to maintain your integrity.

4) Determine your goal, develop a plan to reach that goal, and then act. Don't procrastinate.

5) Communicate. Make sure everybody who ought to know what you're doing knows what you're doing.

6) Don't hesitate to deliver bad news. There is always time to salvage things. There is always time to fix things. Henry Kissinger said that anything that can be revealed eventually should be revealed immediately.

7) Be willing to do whatever it takes to get your job done. If you've got a job that you don't love enough to do what it takes to get your job done, then quit and get one that you do love, and then make a difference.

Do reward President Obama for bringing home our heroic soldiers from the Republican Iraq war, where thousands were maimed and killed, even after no weapons of mass destruction were found. Do reward President Obama for killing Osama bin Laden and avenging thousands of lives lost in NYC and helping to keep future Americans safe. Even now, reward him for trying to extract our soldiers responsibly from Afghanistan, another war he inherited.

I saw Obama yesterday claiming the new job numbers are proof that his policies are working and that we are in an economic recovery... Fact is, that is not the truth, or even close to the truth...
First, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9% and the year-to-date monthly average of 157,000 payroll jobs is barely enough to keep up with population growth -- much less make up for the 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession.
Second, the so-called real unemployment rate (U6) remains elevated at 14.6%, albeit down from 14.7% the prior month. Similarly, the labor participation rate is at 63.8%, up from its multi-decade low but still incredibly weak.
Third, average hourly earnings fell a penny in October and average hours worked fell to 34.4 from 34.5 in September.
Stagnant wages means "we're not generating income," Reinhart says. "That's a problem in terms of the durability of an economic expansion, which is usually fueled by consumption. To get consumption you've got to generate income."
Also, just look at your checkbook. We are paying a lot more for everything now than we did in 2008. The price of gas has doubled. At the same time, wages have gone down, and that's if you're lucky to have a job.
In 2008, 25 banks went out of business. In 2012, 48 banks have gone out of business. Almost double the amount. Does that sound like recovery to you? Don't believe the Obama lies!!

Where were people living that gas wasn't $3.89 or $3.99 a gallon or more under Bush? That was one of the reasons I voted for President Obama. I was paying $1.05 under Clinton and during Bush's term, gas prices steadily rose. Again, President Obama gets accused of lies and the Romney machine just keeps on "pumping" the lies out.

Beware - there may be blood on your hands!

In times past, God's people had no choice in regards to the laws that governed them. Ruled by kings (or sometimes judges or consuls), the Israelites had no choice other than to obey laws as they were decreed---or to rebel (risking their life doing so).

Today we have different - but just as weighty - decisions! We hold in our hands the lives of millions of innocent children. As voters we are responsible for the laws that govern this land and for the elected officials we put into office.

God's Word has made His opinions very clear on some issues. God has said that He is the Author of life---He is" the giver and the taker of life...."

"For a Christian not to vote or not to vote upholding justice (God's laws) is therefore an act of rebellion against God. Voting for a politician or a political party that advocates ending a life that God has begun means that YOU have made abortion the law of the land and have chosen a government in direct opposition to God.

The blood of each and every one of these innocent children is on the hands of those who vote(d) for abortion and abortion advocates! Forty plus million helpless little children have been murdered because many have chosen to do nothing.

May God have mercy on us! Let's ask for His forgiveness and repent ...
That is - to do what is right from here on out!
