Akron Police Searching For Man Linked To Recent Solon Bank Robbery
The following information was supplied by the Akron Police Department.
The Akron Police Department is asking for help finding a 25-year-old Stow man, who they say may be involved in three recent bank robberies, including one in Solon.
Police said Ralphel Antonio Penn of Stow is accused of robbing a First Merit Bank in Akron on Aug. 17. Officials added Penn may have also been involved in bank robberies in Northfield Village and Solon.
Penn entered a First Merit Bank at the 800 block of Brittain Road around 11 a.m. Aug. 17 and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to police. Officers said in a report that the bank teller gave Penn an undisclosed amount of cash and Penn fled.
The bank robbery in Solon involved a similar set of circumstances, but its still unclear if Penn was involved.
Sometime after 4 p.m. July 6, a man entered the Ohio Savings Bank on Aurora Road and slipped a note to the teller that read: "$3,000 now," according to the Solon Police report.
The teller, thinking the man was a customer trying to withdraw cash, asked for his social security number. The police report said the man then changed his tone and said "listen to me" to the teller.
The teller did not have $3,000, but gave the man a pack of singles totaling $200. The man then ran off and fled the scene on foot.
The man did not have a weapon, the report read.
