UPDATE: Solon Power Expected To Be Restored By Friday Night
Northeast Ohio customers without power, including those in Solon, may still have to wait a few days before the lights come back on.
3:51 P.M. UPDATE: Solon residents who do not have power yet now have a clearer picture of when electricity will be restored.
First Energy has updated its estimated restoration times for affected communities. The company says power is expected to be restored completely in Solon by Friday night.
As of 3:45 p.m., about 150 customers in Solon still did not have power.
First Energy explained how it prioritizes where power is restored:
FirstEnergy's restoration process is designed to restore power safely and efficiently for affected customers. The priority for restoration starts with emergency services, including hospitals, police, fire and first aid. Priority is also given to circuits serving the largest number of customers, followed by restoration of service to individual homes.
More than 200 Solon residents are still without power, and it could still be days until they get the lights back on.
First Energy Spokesman Mark Durbin told Patch there is no set plan for who gets power on when, it's where repair crews think they can get the most people power per repair.
He said crews are scattered throughout Northeast Ohio and there was no set plan to get one community restored over another, but the company would devote workers where the most restoration is possible.
At one point more than 1,500 residents were without electricity in Solon after high winds from Hurricane Sandy swept through the region.
Besides outages, Solon escaped mostly unscathed besides some downed power lines and fallen trees.
Where can I go if I don't have power? The Solon Community Center is open to any Solon resident that is without power and needs shelter. The Center is located at 35000 Portz Parkway.
