Marc's Expansion Plans Before Planning Commission Tuesday

Marc's plans to improve and expand its store in Solon. A site plan will be viewed by the planning commission at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Solon Planning commission will discuss Marc's plans to improve and expand its store on SOM Center Road in Solon.

The commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall.

Marc's hopes to build a 4,400-square-foot addition onto the back of the store and also add on another 8,300 square feet by expanding into the Pet Supplies Plus location next door.

Pet Supplies Plus plans to move to the under-development Solon Village at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads.

Plans call for refacing the Marc's building with thin brick and cast stone with accents. The architect plans to bring material samples to the planning meeting.

No changes will be made to the Sears Grand store in the plaza. The improvement at Marc's will help blend the shopping plaza better with the look of Sears, according to a letter submitted to the city by the architect.

Marc's has been busy updating the look of many of their stores in the Cleveland area.

Solon has been on a tear with updating its shopping plazas this year. Solon Village, featuring a new Market District Giant Eagle, is under swift construction. Solon Square will see some changes too, including the addition of Earth Fare.

Rehabbing the city's aging shopping plazas has been a major goal for city officials and a bone of contention for residents, who want better shopping options.

Once again, residents of Solon showing their hypocrisy.
They're complaining about shopping options, but yet do not support the ones that are there.
