Solon officials are considering selling the historic Lynch House so that the 107-year-old home could, perhaps, be relocated.

A recent property assessment of the three historic structures on Bainbridge Road -- The Solon Historical Society building, the Bull House and Lynch House -- show that the properties will need more than $700,000 worth of updates to bring them up to code.

City officials discussed the homes at last month's safety and public properties committee meeting, and brought up the possibility of transferring the property to Solon's commnity investment corporation, a nonprofit arm of the city.

Through that corporation the Lynch house could be sold and maybe even moved to another location.

In fact, Solon officials are interested in moving the home to establish more parking for the historic society and the Solon Center for the Arts and establish some park land.

"Doing something along those lines would open up space between the two homes, and provide an opportunity for the city," said Councilman Bill Russo, who chairs the safety committee.

The homes will be discussed again at tonight's safety committee meeting. The committee meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
