Drunken Driver Asks Cop For Directions, Gets Arrested

A 34-year-old man is charged with drunken driving after he essentially turned himself in by stopping to ask a Solon police officer for directions.

Arrested and charged with drunken driving is Perry L. Allen, 34, of Lakewood, according to a police report.

At about 1 a.m. on Dec. 8, A Solon police officer parked at the closed Sunoco Station at SOM Center and Aurora roads was approached by a man after a car pulled in behind him.

The man asked the cop for directions to Stouffers. The man smelled like alcohol and had slurred speech, according to the report.

The police officer conducted field sobriety tests. The man refused a breathalyzer test.
