Dino's of Solon is closing after 16 months.
The restaurant, which moved into a building on SOM Center Road, will have its last day on Oct. 20. The restaurant will remain open for dinner this week.
In an email to business and city leaders, Dino's co-owner John Tibaldi explained why the decision was made to close:
Due to deteriorating sales and high expenses, my partners and I have made the difficult decision to close down Dino’s of Solon. Despite our efforts, we were unable to make this side project – which we all felt very passionate about – work. We gave it a shot but fell short – no regrets. (well perhaps a few)
...
My partners and I greatly appreciate your patronage over the 16 months of operation as well as the kind words you spoke about our restaurant.
Dino's is the latest in a string of unsuccessful restaurant ventures at 6372 SOM Center Road.

That location must have a curse on it. There's doesn't seem to be any other explanation as to why everyone eventually fails.

Location, location, location. That parcel has no easy access and limited parking.

Yeah, it's got to be location. Dino's has great food, and runs successful restaurants and has a a great catering business all over Northeast Ohio.

Its the Bermuda Triangle for restaurants in Solon. I have seen 5 come and go. If anyone had a chance to make it I was sure Dinos did, having patronized Dinos on E.305 in Wickliffe. I personally feel the place is to chopped up inside. No one ever really remodels because of the structure. It needs a bigger bar for sure. Maybe a wine bar would make it. Soft lighting and comfortable chairs and couches.

Sorry to see this place go as well. Dinos was a nice family operation that served our community well. The problem with this space is twofold. The parking situation is all wrong and the layout of the restaurant is awkward when you first walk in....both VERY important for a restaurant to make it. I believe it would be a good space for a salon/spa.

I totally agree Teresa. The space is chopped up and has no flow or personality. Parking does not exist. The food is said to be good but the times I was there it was average at best. Nothing to write home about.

As much as I root for the non chain restaurants to be successful this was an instance of inconsistent food quality, lackluster service and bad sometimes non-existent management. The biggest shame is the lack of quality non-chain places to eat in the Solon Aurora Twinsburg area. I was excited when they opened but after 3 visits not so much.

The last great eatery in Solon was "43 Bistro." What a shame that Solon can't support fine dining. Does anybody know the reason's?

43 Bistro was one my favorites! One of the problems is poor planning on the part of the city of Solon. The center of town is a disgrace compared to other affluent cities in the area. The other is that there is a lack of support by our community. People go to restaurants in the surrounding areas.

We went there early on with high hopes of something staying. The food was atrocious. I ordered lasagna and sent it back as it tasted like it went through a microwave. I asked the angry woman manager if the lasagna was made fresh and she said yes BUT AT OUR OTHER LOCATION LOL LOL. They spilled sauce on my son's head when brining the food over. Never even got an apology. You cannot run a restaurant like a catering service and expect people to eat microwaved or heated up food.
