In late June, two boys walking along a breakwall near Cedar Point found human remains. They told their father, who contacted authorities. At the time, authorities believed the remains were Kaplan, but that needed to be confirmed.
Kaplan, of Solon, has been missing since his boat was found capsized near the amusement park last October.
Kaplan's companion, Pam Holstein, was found dead inside the boat. The Coast Guard combed the area for Kaplan, but he was never found and the search for him was suspended.
