UPDATED 12:00 P.M. TUESDAY:

Power is slowly being restored in Solon. According to First Energy, about 378 power customers in Solon are still without electricity.

The number was as high as 1,500 as of early this morning.

UPDATED 9:30 A.M. TUESDAY:

After Hurricane Sandy pummeled the coast and caused hundreds of thousands of power outages in Northeast Ohio, the National Weather Service shortened our high wind warning.

The warning, originally in effect until 4 p.m., now ends at 1 p.m.

A lakeshore flood warning is still in effect until 8 p.m., and lakeside roads — like I-90 — are plagued with closures and backups due to high water.

A flood watch for all of Northeast Ohio is still in effect until this evening.

More than 1,500 customers are without power this morning after high winds from Hurricane Sandy swept through, according to First Energy.

As many as 180,000 people, mostly in Cuyahoga County, are without power in Northeast Ohio, and it can be days before power is restored.

If you have a power outage, call First Energy at 1-888-544-4877 to report your outage. Check out the outage map to see where the outages are.

First Energy says that it is pouring resources into restoring power, but that outages can be "lengthy."

"While assessment of the damage by utility workers will be ongoing, the slow-moving nature of the storm will slow the process and hamper the conduct of restoration work. Restoration times will be updated as the severity of the storm's impact on the electrical system is determined."
