Two Solon Divers are AAU National Champions

Solon residents Alex Claus, a 7th grader at Solon Middle School, and Sivan Mills, a senior at Solon High School plunged into the 2012 AAU Diving National Championships at the Family Fitness & Aquatics Club in Huntersville, North Carolina which began on Wednesday July 25th. Only 3 days into the week long competition both have won national titles.
 
Claus competed on the 1 meter board on the opening day of the competition and took first place with a 40 point margin. Then on the second day of the competition he competed on 3 meter and also emerged in first place with a even greater point differential. Alex competes for Cleveland Dive Club coached by Chris Dalman.
 
On the 3rd day of the competition, Sivan took first place in the highly competitive girls 18 year old division entering the finals with the highest score for required dives. She kept her first place through the optionals round of the competition and was the gold medalist for this event by an over 15 point margin. Sivan competes on the 1 meter board on Sunday, July 29th. Sivan, named All American twice, has been diving for over ten years and dives for the American Flyers Diving Club coached by Marc Cahalane who also coaches the Solon High School Diving team. She is captain of the Solon High School diving team for the coming year and is being currently being recruited to dive at Division I universities.
